For almost two decades now, nationally acclaimed wildlife artist Elmer Sprunger of Bigfork, Montana, has commented on issues of life in and around his home at the northeast edge of Flathead Lake in western Montana via sharply-drawn editorial cartoons that have appeared in the towns weekly newspaper, The Bigfork Eagle. These cartoons have earned him national acclaim for both their artistic flavor and his incisive (and sometimes biting) wit. Now a collection of almost 250 of his cartoons on such topics as politics, taxes, wildlife, outdoor recreation, forestry, wilderness and family and home life in general have been compiled in book form in The Eagles Eye: The Cartoons of Elmer Sprunger a collection that is at once a humorous, entertaining, philosophical, and whimsical commentary on the issues affecting life in northwestern Montana and Americans in general. The books foreword was written by the Eagles Editor-Publisher Marc Wilson, who chronicles the reaction over the years to Sprungers artistic wit as many of his cartoons have been republished in a many nationa, state and local publications. 9 x 6-inch, 246 pages. Softcover.
